My late wife Judy and I started painting, on retirement, more than fifteen years ago.
Initially I painted in watercolour, but now work in acrylic, mixed media or pastel. I’ve a passion for painting landscape or townscape, often focusing on older or derelict structures in the context of their natural surroundings. I like to create my larger paintings in stronger, more vibrant colours. I also make smaller, more muted collagraphs inspired by details taken from the same subject matter. Hopper is an artist I very much admire, and whose work has had a significant influence on mine.
I’m an active committee member of the Shropshire Art Society, organising gallery trips, workshops, classes and painting holidays for the membership, and I regularly exhibit in the society’s exhibitions.
